Last week we had a visit from the “Pillbugs”. Word got around that we knew a lot about vicuñas, and they asked to come to our classroom so they would learn as well.
After talking with them and answering many questions, the “Pillbugs” got very excited and decided to do beautiful vicuñas paintings. They were very grateful and wrote an inspiring E-mail to the “Froggies”
Among the many surprises this project gave us, the most rewarding has been the connection we managed to achieve with members of our school community. Not only parents but students and teachers as well.
Here is the E-mail we recieved:
“… Dear Froggies, we would like to thank you so much for receiving us in your classroom. it was a wonderful experience for the children, and for the teachers as well, to learn about the vicuñita and their lovely song. We could see how hard you had worked, and the children were astonished of how much you knew. One of the girls even brought a vicuñita she had at home to share with her friends.
They also painted a vicuñita when we were painting as Florencio Molina Campos.
Thank you very much again! We loved visiting your classroom!
With love, the Pillbugs! …”
